Post subject:  Harmony H168 restoration

I have an old Harmony H168 (not a reissue) that I want to put a little work into.
It actually plays well, and sounds great, and just needs to be setup.
The main problem is that the tuners are bent, old, and just sort of "done".
I want to replace them, but not sure how difficult this is going to be.
I have included a pic of the tuners.
I am not sure what specific type of tuner they are (a comment off of another website said they were "Schaller minis"?)
I found some places selling "vintage" equipment, and there are some exactly like what I need, but they all seem to be in poor condition, if not worse than the ones current on the guitar.
Dose anybody know where I might be able to get some NEW ones?
If that's not going to work, how difficult would it be, to completely replace the tuners with something more modern?
I would not be doing that work myself, but a real guitar tech/luthier.
I have a feeling I would screw that up, and that's the last thing I want to do.
I really to like this guitar and to me, it is worth restoring.
It just needs a little love.
Any help you be great.

I don't see a H168 in their data base. Is it a H16B?

Kind of funny we are looking at the exact same site for our info. :)
Yeah, it is for sure an H168

It's actually the site where a guy mentioned that the tuners were "Schaller minis".
I did some looking, and couldn't find anything from Schaller resembling that type of strip tuner configuration, and that is what has me stumped.

That site is very good but not complete. They still request updates since it was created from scratch.

I have a 1957Harmony H65 with a gawdy tailpiece that has "made in Germany" stamped in ink on the underside. There was no Germany in 1957. This tailpiece had to have been made in the 1930s before WW2 or it would say made in West Germany. I think Hofner made it..

Try surfing Ebay. You can buy stuff for old Harmonys there quite regularly and also see pics that can teach you stuff. Many old Harmonys have been restored or had stuff swapped and updated so the parts on them aren't original

I think I will just take it down to my local guitar guy, and find out what some possibilities are.
I really want this guitar to shine again.
