I have a customer needing a Dean Pace Contra Upright repair. The repair looks straight forward, typical headstock break. But I have no idea what the "piano" finish is. Given the brand, I'd assume poly of some sort, but want to be sure before I start. Anyone ever work on one of these?

Well, it's Asian, so it's a good bet it's not lacquer. You'll have to test somewhere, Allan.

Dang. Turns out there were some "undisclosed" cracks that made the repair worth way more than the bass was worth.

So buy it for cents on the dollar, fix it, and flip it on eBay.

Well the customer (40 year friend) decided to forgo the purchase and the seller hasn't responded to my questions about some other cracks that would appear to run down the neck. He did however drop the BIN price $30.

I've got three projects that need to be completed and sold before I spend any more money on more. Plus I haven't had time to work on the Gibson bass that needs a new truss rod or the Teisco Del Rey. I should have the Bonamassa repair ready to go by the 25th though. Put the third coat on it today.
