Post subject:  Larrivee neck removal

I've done many neck re-sets over the years, Martin ,Gibsons, Santa Cruz, Harmonys etc. and some oddball ones. Usually find out the hard way how the necks are attached on some of the off brand kind. Can anyone with experience tell me if Larrivee Guitars are put together with a traditional dovetail or something different. Its obviously not a bolt on.Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the OLF Dennis.

I asked my business partner, David Collins if he has reset a Laravee and that now makes three of us who have not including you. Sorry I can't help any further but I did want to bump and acknowledge your question/thread, welcome you to the OLF and also let you know that we would be happy to help if we had reset one in the past.

In another thread Terry Kennedy a member here and retired surgeon shows X-rays of a neck joint that he had done at one time. If you are friends with a Doc or Vet maybe get it X-rayed?

Anyway welcome to the OLF.

Hi Dennis

I was in the Larrivee shop in 2005 and took some pictures. These two are not very detailed but might help - Mike G

Thanks everyone for your replies concerning the Larrivee Neck Joint. I called Larrivee in Calif. and was assured that the joint is a traditional dovetail. It's sometimes hair raising enough working with steam, to go at it blind. Thanks again for your support.

Jean & Co. pride themselves on doing a proper dove tail. If the owner is the original owner they may be able to get the repair done under warranty. Worth checking out.
