This somewhat abused and beat up Guild was brought into my shop for a bridge repair. I recently posted a picture along with a question about the repair and received a lot of good info. The repair went really good but, I noticed a crack in the top.
I might add that the guitar was really dried out and as I hydrated it the crack got more noticeable. If you look in the pictures you can see that it runs from the bridge to the tail piece almost right on the centerline.
Now I did try a drop of thin CA glue and as the picture shows it did wick through. I am worried though that it will damage the finish. I really don’t want to have to refinish it as the guitar is not worth it.
Once again I think I could use some help here with respect to the best way to proceed.

Thanks
Dave

Also you'd lose that awesome eagle!

Having already wicked the CA into the crack, I think you're done with that part of the repair. As far as I know there's not really any going back there now. I usually do the same thing you did only with Tite-bond to fix cracks like that provided the guitar has re-hydrated and the crack has closed itself. It would probably be a good idea to put a few cleats along that crack on the inside of the guitar. But otherwise you're probably good to go.

What's going on with that ring around the bridge pin?

Yea, my bad, I tightened the LMI bridge clamp a little too tight when I glued the bridge on. That mark is the result of the wing nut from the clamp. Should have had a fender washer on it.
I think I would have been better off with Tite bond as apposed to CA glue but too late now. I just have to figure out how to attach the cleats without spending $200 on clamps and cauls, etc...
