I need to add some purfling around the top on a flamenco guitar and am wondering what the plastic glue proof material used as temporary binding is called. I know this stuff is used as a temporary binding for doing that fancy abalone or mop around the top of many steel string guitars. Can anyone give me a lead what it is and where to buy it.

Teflon filler strip or gluing strip. I've gotten it from StuMac and LMI. I wouldn't count on it always to be "exactly" as advertised dimensionally. It just needs to be measured before you plan your cuts. I had some that was a few thou narrower than the shell strips it was supposed to fit -- lucky I measured first or it would have been a bad day in the shop.
