Post subject:  Dan D's Amateur Challenge Thread
I decided to enter the challenge as a hopeful newbie.

I've built a lot of necks and finger boards for Cigar Box and Tin Resonator instruments, but have little experience with building full-scale-start-to-finish stringed instruments. I will have to challenge the term "local" to mean "wood that's already on my shelf". I have several species to choose from, and some of it may very well be local...who knows?

I have several projects underway, and will post photos and other documentation, but probably won't decide which one is the actual entry until I see which one is less embarrassing.

Welcome, and please be sure to post lots of pictures, and ask lots of questions along the way.... Can't wait to see your finished instrument.

Okay...here we go:

The wood choices (so far) - A slab of Mahogany and some Spruce

The start ups -
1) One-Piece, Solid Body, Electric Ukulele
2) A jumbo-bodied ukulele, a.k.a, "Mariach-ulele"

Thanks. I am making two at once, to see which method of shaping works best.
