Have you chosen an unconventional place to build guitars? I have, from tonight...

My kitchen has 16ft of FLAT surface space with cupboards all around for a makeshift gobar deck if needed.It's very easily humidity controlled, I can put my main workbench in the centre of all this, with the worktops all within reach. It's clean, with no gritty bits to scratch precious tonewood, and most of all, I have no wife to stop me from using the kitchen as a temporary place to make guitars...

That's 'cos I AM the wife!!!

I like that Sam. Not sure how the rest of the family will feel, but from my experience they won't even notice as long as dinner is on time.

As for Hesh, yup he sure did. That's why some of the guys were telling him that his build style "stinks" among other things.

I don't believe in anything, I simply make use of a set of reasonable working hypotheses.

I built my first electric (post university) in a basement apartment - used a Workmate and a friends router to do most the the work, cavities etc, out in the small hallway - freehand, I had no idea what template routing was !!! - what a mess that made (tile floor) then finished it (minwax poly) on the top of the huge wet bar in what used to be the house family room (it was our living room - beat that !!!) Also made my first tube amp from scratch in the same room, 50W Marshall from an old Elk head. Except for some 60 cylce hum from the heater circuit that needed some tweaking, it all worked first time. Ah, the good old days.

The effects of all the sawdust in that basement still have repercussions for coach Tony, even today, his wife catches him often Rolling in a pile of Zoot!

I'm another person working with limited space -- a corner of the loft bedroom of an apartment. I use mostly hand tools, but as a hobbiest, I have time.

The three on the wall came from a store!

Tony -- you've come a long way. Here's a small corner of the current shop where some of the heavy lifting happens.

My favorite part is his wine cellar just off the workshop, the swimming pool and hot tub!

My 'shops' have been corners of my parents garage, my uncle's basement, but mostly my tiny student room and the large flat roof (it's not a terrace, really; chimney's sticking out the middle of it) right outside my window. Thankfully, I now have a shed (poor climate control) and an attic space (single bench, few shelves, next to the washer, much better climate control)
