I dunno if you have come across this before, somebody posted this in another forum I "frequent", but this is a site where many guitars are compared for their tonal qualities *whispers* There be some Lowden gitters, too!!

Yeah, that's what I thought about the Lowdens. I kinda listened to about ten different guitat samples, thought the Olsons were best, then left the best 'till last...

The Lowdens beat them all.... I couldn't believe my ears!

The recordings of these guitars are very faithful...I listened to at least SIX Taylors at a UK get-together a few weeks' ago, and wasn't suprised at the recordings on this site

This is a great site, Sam...thanks for posting! A few comments, observations and personal conclusions:

1) I'm a little skeptical about the recording levels being consistent...a few of the clips seem to be noticebly quieter...almost like the player was much farther from the mike.
2) I definitely favor smaller bodied guitars over the dreds. The tonal difference was striking to my ears.
3) I was very impressed with the mahogany/anything over rosewood/anything...that Colin is a very wise man!
4) Hesh is right about the Harmony!
5) This would be a good link to send out to your customers to get a sense of what sound appeals to them. And if they don't cancel a potential order and go out and buy a Lowden, one would be able to tailor the sound to better meet their expectations.
6) I plan to spend a lot more time listening to the clips and get a better appreciation of the nuances...this is a real education for me!
7) I'm having a hard time getting that song out of my head!

I thought they all sounded like guitars

All kidding aside, each one was pleasing, just different. I spent two hours yesterday at the Guitar Center in my area - went in to pick up a couple sets of strings and as usual ended up in the acoustic high end room trying different models, mfgrs, etc., scrutnizing the differences in build, style, sound, etc.

I played three Martins, all same size but different models, D38, D16, D28 and of course each one was different in sound even though they had similar tops. Each one played a little differently as well, i.e. fingerboard feel, string feel.

The other thing I looked at was a couple of new Breed Love models selling for around $1,000 - man the quality was unbelievable, and the sound, playability, feel all very nice.

And then you play something at the lower end like a $400 something and amazed at the quality, sound and playability of that as well. All good, just different.

Now I forgot the point I was going to make but guess I was thinking about past posts and comments like "What is the perfect sound and how do you get it?"

Cool, nice sounding guitars Terry. I really like the Rosewood/sitka.

This is a great quote off the site regarding Terry's guitars.

Workmanship is first rate and the voice will astound you for an instrument in this price range. As a new builder, Kennedy is taking far less than they are worth to help get the word out on his fine guitars but we could easily sell these for $2000 more if we were just going by their voices.
