Thanks for all the great ideas on my prevoius thread.

Had another question before I proceed.
At the tailblock it is common practice to contour the block to match the
contour of the sides at the seam.
Do any of you do this at the headblock as well?

Reason I ask is, as I was lining everything all up in the mold I noticed that
the headblock will not sit flat against the sides if the sides are tight to the
mold. There is a slight curvature to the mold/body shape in the area
where the center seam and headblock meet.

Hope you can visualize what I'm describing. If not I will try and post a pic
tomorrow before I proceed.

You'll need to contour the neck block as well. The assembly must conform to the mold.

If it was me I'd make sure the head block is flat where the neck joins to it. you can start a taper to curve with the sides about 1/8" beyond the neck. If you don't it will be difficult to get a tight fit with the neck. I would also make sure the mold is flat in that area. You can glue in a side cut off then sand/plane/file the area flat. It will save you much grief in the long run.

Another thing you will want to do is angle the cut about 5 degrees on the neck joint to help you get that tight fit.

I do like Hesh does. I also take a piece of sticky back sandpaper and attach it to the mold where the block will be. Then I can fine tune the block directly against the surface of the mold.
