Where would I find an "off-the-shelf" case for a L-00 or K-14?

I looked high and low on the web and couldn't find a thing. Didn't know if I could fudge it with a martinesque 00 case, so I ordered a custom one from Cedar Creek.

FYI - I'm having a local Gibson rep check with Gibson about the availability of hard shell cases for the Blues King / L-00 re-issue / Nick Lucas. I know that Gibson sells some of these with a case, but I can't find anyone who has the case only available for sale. Seems like some of the folks who are buying a Blues King with a gig bag would want an hard case. Things that make you go - hmmmmm....

They are suppose to let me know next week. I'll pass the information on when I get it.

I know I can get a Cedar Creek or Calton, but that would over kill (price wise) for what I'm needing right now.

Hope somebody out there can help. I've seen plenty of talk here from folks who are building them. What are some of you other guys doing / or planning to do?

I've used classical cases, and also a case that is made for Seagull's "folk" model guitar works well. I get mine from a local music store, and if you have a helpful store near you then maybe you can take your guitar in and try it out in a few different cases they have around.

FWIW, my 1992 Nick Lucas Special(L-00) reissue shipped in what is called the "plush case", and a tag inside says, "Case Made in Canada". I believe Calton is in Canada, although the tag doesn't specify a mfg.

Chris, I think it's probably TKL.

I would say the same .. made in Canada by a TKL sanctioned factory, but they also make other non TKL cases, and they do Gibsons as well (at least some of them)

Yeah, pretty much if it's a good-looking, decently built case in the traditional style, it's probably made by TKL. At least if it's made in North America, that is.

I buy (and sell cases from the Canadian maker of TKL cases and have found that the Clasical cases fits the L-00 very well. They do have a case they make specifically for the gibson L-00 models but uou have to order a whole buch to get them and I am told you cane barely tell the difference between it and the clasical.

Our local Gibson rep (Mammoth Music/ Anchorage) finally got back with me and has said that Gibson does sell a hard shell case for the Blues King. The local store is quick about offering a disclaimer - that there's "no guarantee it will fit a L-00 or a KG-14". Why? It is a special order - no returns.

But the Blues King is suppose to be a re-issue of the L-00, which is suppose to be the same size (dimensionally) as the KG-14.

According to Mammoth - the Gibson case is around $200.

Think I'm going to take it with me to the store and try out the classical cases first. This old sweetheart deserves protection, but I'm probably not going to travel with it except in a vehicle. Something simple should be less expensive and will still fill the bill.

Some of Gibson's literature has said that the Blues King guitar is build with a "shallower" body. I don't know if that means shallower than the original L-00, but before ordering any case, find out its interior dimensions. BTW, there's an Epiphone version, too, so maybe there's a less expensive case available.

I bought a used case at Guitar Center that fit the L-00 well. It was a TKL off the shelf I do believe. It originally housed a Kent Everett guitar. Guitar Center sells cases and guitars seperate, even trade-ins. Anyway, it works, and it's TKL.
