Arnt it is gratifying that you remember that ashed necked guitar.
John, not only do I remember it, I was so inspired by it that I am currently making a 000-12 with ziricote b/s that will have a lighter colored wood for the neck and apointments, possibly maple (unless you tell me where I can find some of that curly ash!); all thanks to that lovely 000 you showed us, which I saved in the "inspiration" folder on my hard drive under "000-12"...

Super work John. I love the neck. Nice inlay on the headstock too.

Chris ash makes a good neck. It is very strong, frequently used in boat building for its high strength to weight ratio, absorbs impact very well and is generally just a great wood. If you are luck enough to find a nicely curled piece then it can be really decorative as well.

Robert
I think I will have it long enough to bring with me, though the new owner is wanting to take posession.

James, Kim and Bob, I appreciate the kind words.

Arnt. I will ship you enough for a neck if you are intereseted and if I can find enough for the job. You will have to send me your demensions. You know it has to be laminated. My board is only an inch wide.

The finish is poly, I think. It is for sure a catalyzed finish that is applied by that master finisher Tony Ferguson. I am sure someone around here knows for certain the name of that finish.   I do know he starts out with an epoxy fill and then shoots whatever over that.
