How about this "strange commission" from my 4-year old; a fruit cake tin mandolin?!!

Actually he wanted the cool lid to be the top, but I could not figure out how to do that, besides then would not be able to use it to store cowboy hat!

Arnt, that is really cool.  There would probably be a market for those.  Especially if you put a "Princess" on it.  Or, maybe, Sponge Bob, Square Pants.

Thanks guys! These are fun and quick instruments to build, but they sound fine. I'll rephrase that, they make a LOT of sound (which is probably one reason my son loves it so much)! Think banjo...

I have said it before and I'll say it again: Some of us could really use that edit button back; that last sentence in my previous post is missing some words and it almost makes it unreadable.

Strange only in that they would be a mirror imaged set of guitars! (Also clear of the fret slots.)

Love the fruit cake Arnt!
Hey Paul, How about a double neck?
Stunning inlay!

My double neck wasn't a commision but strange none the less.

Hey Arnt! Cool mando.
I recognize the Colin Street Bakery tin, and applaud your good taste in fruit cakes.
(Well, that is, if one is going to eat fruit cake anyway, that's probably the best.)

Come to Texas some time, and we'll drive over to Corsicana and get as many "bodies" as you need for future projects.

Steve

2 inlays one was the words BEER TRUCK in very large block pearl letters on a bass neck going down the fretboard. The other was a hand with an insulting gesture on the headstock of a Les Paul. I thank myself everyday I stopped doing inlays Oh Yeah and the Batman logo on the front of a Les Paul to cover another luthiers routing disaster.
Love all the cool looking oddities!]
Best, Evan

John: I'm not glam enough to pull it off, but that guitar's a show stopper for sure!

Paul: Jeez, you're making us CNC guys look bad :) Gorgeous work, there!

Arnt, that's a great picture. Your son looks very comfortable holding his mando especially for a 4 yr old. I see an aspiring musician in the making!
