Well I made my first attempt at inlay and it didn't come out too bad, I'm happy. All in all it was a learning experience. I have a little cleaning to do tomorrow right now I have the fingerboard glued to the neck and it will set for now. I made this out of shells I picked up on a beach in Mexico.

Nice job! Inlaying in rosewood is always harder than ebony because you cant hide the over cuts as easily. Having made the inlay from shells yo0u gathered yourself is just a really big plus in my book!

For not knowing what I was doing, not too bad. I had collected quite a bit, I had this idea for a while. My design is as simple as it gets. I just selected a semi flat piece and started sanding. Once it was relatively flat I cut it with a jewelers saw. Again the pieces were small and simple I think that was the key.

I think that's an excellent first attempt!! I'm with Todd, when the finish hits it, it will really pop. Great job.
