I haven't been around much this last year and am doing very little building lately but about 1 1/2 years ago I had a client from Toronto who was having some problems with her guitar, action to high, and someone on the forum here (I can't remenber who) said he would look at it to see what the problem was and possibly fix it rather than shipping it all the way back if it is a minor problem. While, she ended up not doing anything with it and has been playing it and using it as her main gigging guitar but just contacted me about it again. She apparently took it in to the 12th fret and they said it needed $500 worth of work. It's a bolt on neck so if that is the problem it would be an easy fix but is might be just a saddle issue or such. The neck is a very small neck (only 1 1/2 inch at the nut) and she was aware we were pushing the envelope on that. It also apparently has a bubbling issue with the finish on the back (French polish) she said it wasn't over heated but did say she had really high humidity for a bit. I was wondering if anyone remembers who it was who said they would look at it or if there are any recommemdations on someone from Toronto. If the problem is a warranty issue I'll take care of the repairs although I question if it is after close to 2 years.

That's right. I think it might have been Tony who I was in contact with. As far as the community since the fire goes it has been a struggle but we are still moving ahead. After the fire the owners assured us that they were totally commited to rebuilding and we came up with a plan to do so. Insurance wasn't enough to cover even half of the rebuild cost but in the course of three months we were able to gain over $80 million dollars in government commitments and then ,just as it looked like we were ready to start building the owners took an insurance payout and walked away, as we look back on it they probably were just playing us the whole time to get the insurance company to give them a better payout. Everyone was in shock over this including the ministers and even the premier, we all though it was in the bag. As soon as they bailed out we started looking for another investor to step in and replace the lost insurance money. We found an investor interested in the company (multiply is a value name brand) but he couldn't justify the cost of rebuilding so was looking at buying the name and product line and moving it out of the region. Of course this product needs the skilled labourers that we have here so we convinced him to stay in the area and purchase an idled paper mill in the town 15 minutes away (the company who owned the paper mill wern't open to selling it to anyone who would compete and since multi ply is a totally different product we were able to put this together. So plans are underway to have the mill back up and running by next fall. At the same time we ar pursueing other investment opportunities and tourism to help diversify our economy. Along with that we have leveraged the funding for about $10 million in revitalisation money and are starting into a total face lift for our town along with a theme park based on the Children's book "Paddle to the Sea" (the book starts ands finishes right here in Nipigon. we are also are starting to attract a number of new residents who are retiring or run e-businesses or other businesses that are not site specific. A community that is in the most beutiful area of North America, Has very cheap housing (you can buy a nice home here for $50,000 or less) and an amazing quality of life is a real drawing card for many people. We are starting to market Nipigon in that way as well. This would actually be a great Town for a luthier who is thinking of relocating. any way, with all that going on Arvey guitars has been on the back burner for the last year, but not dead yet. Good for you Richard! It looks like the town folk have good horse sense when it comes to electing a mayor who will represent them well.
