Take out half the candy and hide it and suddenly you are out of candy a whole lot faster.

Lance,

I thought from the tile that this would be a plea to swmbo for another set of killer Brazilian Rosewood or Cocobolo

You have my sympathy. They used to have the sweet racks positioned in supermarkets at the check-outs here in the UK for obvious reasons, but thankfully that has now been stopped.

You could try putting some mustard on a piece of candy that would stop the pleas for more for a while - well it worked for a friends cat that used to try and steal food from your hands

At my house it was a bit ridiculous.
I had one "kid" come the door with a mustache....real

I feel that if you can grow your own facial hair you are too old to trick or treat!!!!

(No he did not have some medical condition causing premature hair growth)

Enjoy those questions while you can. I'd heard people say "I miss my kids being little", and that always seemed odd to me. Until now. My oldest is 17, and it's like the only time I see him is passing through the door, or when he needs money, etc.

There comes a point when there aren't as many kodak moments. Enjoy the candy.

I'm glad I didn't have too many come to the door.  I have lots left for me.  Lance, can I have one more piece of candy?

I heard this morning, "Dad can we each have a piece of candy in our lunchboxes?" "Sure", I thought but asked, "what have you packed so far".
"Pudding".
Hmmmm, pudding and Butterfinger. There's gotta be at least 3 of the 4 major food groups represented somewhere.

I've got a different problem. My wife sneaks chocolate out of the bowl and my son stands with his hands on his hips yelling "MOM"!

I don't really care how old they are! If they have the guts to come to the door and say "Trick or Treat", I pony up with the candy!

Besides, a "trick or treat creep" with a mustache could probably deal one hell of a trick if PO'd!

Yes!! Yes!! I'm the Neville Chamberland of Halloween, "Peace in our time"!!

I always get a kick out of kids' faces when they say "Trick or Treat!" and I tell them, "Ok, you get the trick instead this year.".

Or, a bunch of kids come up to the door, and I stand in the kitchen (right next to the front door, but behind a wall) and slowly open the door so that it creaks real creepy like, and then wait to hear what they say. They say stuff like "I wonder if they're trying to scare us?" and stuff like that, and I wait for the appropriate time and stick my head out from behind the door and scream "AAAAAAAAARRRRGH!!!" and watch them freak out and run away.

Saves more candy for me that way.

I told a kid who came to the door last night that I was handing out rocks before he saw the inside of the candy bowl. He tried so hard to look interested. When I put the candy bowl in front of him, I told him to take a handful. Wish I'd had a camera to capture the look on his face!

Bill, I'm beginning to see what you mean. My little girl is now 11, going on 15. My boy, at 7 is still a little boy. I savor every moment with them. Well, most of them!

I'm with Billy. Everybody gets treats, even the occasional parent.

Come to think of it, maybe next year I really will hold out a bowl of rocks before I bring out the candy!

I had to buy my wife a pair of crutches this morning.... She sprained her ankle stepping off the sidewalk taking our son out.  She's better today, thankfully.

The candy he brought home ended up in a big pile in the living room.  I told him as long as it was there and not put away it was fair game for mom and dad to steal, I mean .. na! steal from.

And, yes, savor the moments!  Both the good and the teenage.
