Thing is if you can demand that price and folks willing to buy at that price because great guitars, you wouldn't be selling on ebay and that your main source of selling. My old boss doesn't want to see his guitars built for folks sold or seen on ebay at all. Happens, but to many not a good sign.

It's not clear (to me) that the builder is the eBay seller.
This should be a warning to all of us not to sell (or even give away) anything we wouldn't want to put our name on, and have critically discussed online at sites like the OLF.
I'm trying to keep my mistakes hanging in my house- though it's starting to get a bit full! ;)

Sorry if my observations offended anyone. I have a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease sometimes and call things as I see them. It's incurable, but if I try hard, I can control it....

In this case, there being an obvious disparity between the craftsmanship of these guitars and the price asked for them, what we (I) should have done (rather than pulicly ridiculing them), is to have a quiet word with the seller about the matter and try to put him/her straight on the realistic value of the items for sale.

John makes a good point about not letting your "test pieces" out into the world. I shall live by this code. Wonder how many I'll have to make before they're good enough to sell at all (at any price)? :|

an interesting point the builder may not be the seller ... but never the less....I think we ( I know I am) are only applying the same scrutiny we ( I) would expect if we ( I) were asking an exorbitant price for our ( my)instruments! I think it especialy rattles my cage when the builder is built up with statements like PHD and " guitar masterworks" when they clearly have no bearing on the quality of workmanship ! I also wonder if the "green" guitar was built without powertools? Jody
