Bit the bullet & bought a Kreg bench top router table w/fence. Mainly because I don't have a jointer in the shop. My idea was to use it to joint laminated necks for glue-up. Does anyone use it for this?
I've just used it to build a few molds. There's gotta be a "ton" of uses for it that I don't know about(this is my first stab at routers). What are some of you using this tool for. Thought about using it to profile necks, like a shaper?

Truss rod and CF slots, and cutting the radius for braces.
For me, neck stock surfacing is a job for jointers and planers.

Pattern routing & binding ledges (headstocks). (I think you picked the hardest first- profiling the back of necks)

Never used one, but I have read that they can be the best for joining tops and backs. You might need to make a sled to do it perfectly.

the problem with using a router as a jointer is finding router bits that are over 2" long. I tried using my router to cut the truss rod channels, but the bit kept getting hot and burning the wood. I found it much easier to use a dado blade on the table saw for this.

Personally I have not been able to get a good enough edge for plate joining, not to say it can't be done.

I do use the router table for:

- pattern routing for jigs and molds
- slotting bridges
- slotting necks
- profiling braces

Nice bench top table Dave! I have a similar one.
I rout the truss rod and CF slots. also its good for cutting your
headstock binding channel and shaping the headstock. Shaping
braces and bridges. Lots of things can be done with it using templates.

I really like it for templates. It took the work out of it I think. I never planned on using it for jointing tops or backs. Leaving that to my #5 Bailey plane. I did some reading and seems like a lot of woodworkers do use it to join boards. I plan on laminating my neck for this guitar so were only talking 1" to 7/8" thick pcs. I ordered a 1 1/4 straight bit for that.

I use my routr table for a lot of things. I just like to setup on it better. Profiling a neck sounds like an ambitious undertaking!
