Hi guys!

Who's from Northern California, espcially bay area? Please share what city.

Also, I see many get togethers being posted on this forum and am wondering if there are or was any get together in Northern California?

Thanks, David

Hi David,

I'm a newbie luthier-in-training. I live in Cambrian Park in the southwest part of San Jose. There are a couple of well known professional luthiers in this area - Richard Hoover of Santa Cruz Guitar Company, and Ervin Somogyi, both of whom have other luthiers that work for them these days.

I'm always running into wannabe luthiers at Global Wood Source in San Jose also. I think there are a LOT of luthiers in the far north of CA and up into Oregon and Washington, but not so many in the SF Bay Area itself.

There is a Northern California Luthiers group called NCAL. Their website is way out of date (I hope to be able to help them do something about that if they'll let me) but they still meet regularly. They are looking for new members right now. I intend to join in the fun. I will to be driving up to the next meeting (which will be my first) at Ribbecke Guitars in Healdsburg on Sunday March 9th. You would be welcome to come along too, I'm sure.
I posted a thread about this upcoming meeting a short while ago (with meeting info) here to see who would be going from around here.

If you'd like me to send you a copy of the newsletter and meeting announcement pdf's, PM me and I'll send it to you right away. The person who seems to be running NCAL right now is Natile from LMI. I can send you her contact info too if you like.

Anyhow, welcome to the OLF, and get busy building!!

Cheers for now,
Dave F.
