I hardly think of my home made jig as a Lexus, I'd say its more akin to an old Massey Ferguson; inexpensive, does the job, but you got to know it's idiosyncrasies or you can get hurt :o

BTW, you don't need a holder for the guitar the way I use mine (which is similar to Rod's method, I think).

I found the williams plans, and saw Colin's picture of his mod (Aston Martin). BTW, is Colin's jig a bit taller than the standard plans?

Also, do you have details (plans) for the rotating mount modification? (what makes it the Aston)

I think don't bother with any Dremel binding system, underpowered for the task and Dremels are too subject to bearing run out. This base is too unstable for long runs like on a guitar body. It has the same roller bushing that they use on the inlay base and I can say from experience the bushing does not hold up long at all if used regularly.

But I have to say this base is useful for peghead binding, in particularly at the fillets just past the nut. There the small foot print is very useful.

The degree to which the bit doesn't rotate perfectly on its own axis, leaving you with a vibrating, chattering but that cuts bigger channels than your micrometer seems to say it should.

I know I need to invest in a saw to build a binding cutter, or just buy the binding cutter outright. I'd rather build it and have the saw too. But......

Anybody know anybody within 100 miles of Huntsville Al that can cut the slots? I just want to move on (I am just under 2 hours south of Nashville, and same distance north of Birmingham.
