For those who haven't heard, the art of lutherie lost one of it's brightest stars this week. Thomas Humphrey died of a heart attack on Tuesday. Very sad indeed.

That is a bummer, I have always loved his work.

I've met him and Maria his wife and their beautiful little daughter!

What a shame-so young -so much to give!

Instrumentmakers-take care of your health!
This is a wakeup call!!

I think I read that he was born in 1948. What a shame!

What a loss, one of my clients has one of the earliest Millennium classicals. Marvelous guitar
from a great, great builder. Luthiery is diminished.

Wow, this is very sad and surprising indeed. I only had a few chances to meet him at seminars and symposiums, but I know he was not only a fine luthier, but a very fine husband and father. Very generous with his knowledge as well. His lessons were my first introduction to french polish techniques. I wish the best peace possible for his family.

If you are over 50 or have a strong family history of heart disease, a daily 81mg asprin can reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke by 44% .

What a sad surprise! My heart goes out to his family. I've got two young daughters as well, so I can almost imagine what they must be going through.

I only got to hear him speak once, but I have been much inspired by his work, as I know so many have. I give thanks for his great contributions.
