I am hoping somebody will bring a guitar finished in polyester by Joe White to John Hall's shindig this weekend. I really want to see his finish. Is there anyone who can do that?

Thanks!

I wont be there but I can attest to the quality of Joe's finish. He did a fantastic job on one of mine last month! [clap]

I'll be at The Zootman's on Sunday afternoon and Monday. Bring your sunglasses! I've had 2 done by Joe so far and the results exceeded my expectations. Stay tuned for pics of the latest next week!

Todd, be sure to post pictures of Jim's guitars.

I have a guitar finished by Joe White. Anyone who has seen it have commented on how clear the finish is. Joe does top notch work!

I am looking forward to seeing JJ's this weekend.

I am absolutely THRILLED with the finish that Joe put on the 2 guitars I took to Miami. Both of them were mirror quality finishes and they held up well to being handled all weekend. Joe will definitely get all of my finishing work from now on!

That is a beautiful guitar, Greg. Do I see a bit of an arm rest or is that just the light?

Todd -- I'll be there with this one, which Joe did for me a couple of weeks ago:

My apologies for the quality of the pics ... a photographer I'm not. The commission was to build a "blank canvas" for my client's carving art; the style of instrument and materials were left to me.

I can't say enough good things about working with Joe White and am really reluctant to sing his praises too highly ... he might not have space for my future work

With this particular guitar, I was under a very tight schedule to complete the instrument and Joe agreed to take on the rush job. He got the guitar via USPS overnight on a snowy Friday -- apparently his mail carrier slipped and broke her ankle while delivering it! (Oddly, her name is Jan -- this guitar is named "Janus." Hmmmm ....) He kept me informed every step of the way via email and pics. Unbelievably, I got it back by 11:00 AM the next Friday!

My shop is located in the "historic district" of my town, and zoning regs prevent me from spraying VOC-laden finishes. I do spray waterborne lacquers, and do a fair amount of FP, but for those clients who require the look and durability of a brilliantly-applied poly finish, Joe's my guy.

Absolutely top-shelf, first-rate, phenomenal customer service, and his work speaks for itself ... beautiful.

For some reason, my post above was attributed to "guest." Perhaps this one will get it right.

I saw Jim Warwick's Joe White-finished guitar - very nice! Thin, very uniform finish...dead ringer for a great nitro job, which is very good, indeed.

Funny story about the back/side set for the guitar - Jim got what he was told was a set of darker coco from a luthier moving out of the area - nothing special. Another customer of his arranged for a botanist to take a look after some head scratching on why it was not acting like cocobolo during the build. You guessed it - old growth BRW...dead quartered and nothing to make you think you are not looking at a '30's set from Martin. Jim's customer for the guitar (Robb - a local music store owner and great guy) is coming up with the guitar, which is also a canvas for the owner's carvings which decorate peghead, soundhole, and tail graft.

There is a lot of visual overlap between the two species; enough that being a botanist cannot tell them apart reliably once they are sawn into guitar sets.
