Well, the recipient is happy, but I'm withholding my judgement. It still needs to be set up. The action is way up high, and it sounds like heck. This was more of a practice run, to see if I would be able to do this... and the verdict is still out. Granted, I cut the scale length way down (17"), knowing what it would do to sting tension, etc., and it sounds like a toy, but the intonation is way off. I'm hoping that getting the strings down to a reasonable height will correct this. It does have sustain that goes on forever... sound great tuned to an open G. Hmmm... doesn't say much, does it?

Anyway, here she is:

Made, with the exception of the Sitka Spruce top, with woods that I had lying around. Bubinga back and sides, birch neck, and bloodwood fretboard, bridge, binding, and top plate. Looks great (I think) just sounds like dookie. Luckily, a 3 year old doesn't care... but it kills me.

Mine is next... hope it sounds better.

I think that it looks like a great first effort and something to be very proud of.

I also think that your 3 year old looks like he is having a great time too - the next Tommy perhaps!

Great job! [:Y:] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]
