I'm already thinking of customizing the Uke kit that I plan on ordering in the next day or two.
I am thinking about an inlay on the headstock. I have some thin veneer and I thought I could simply glue that onto the existing headstock with the inlay inplace.
I have only done one inlay project before and it wasn't too hard, but it was a real pain on my fingers. I used an Exacto knife and made many slow, small cuts until I cut through the wood. It was slow (not a problem) but KILLED my fingers.
My question is, are there better tools for this type of work. again, I'm going to be using only thin veneer so I hope I can get away without power tools.
I've looked around on the web and haven't found any real good instructions on this procedure. (plenty of info on using power tools for this stuff though)
Here is a picture of the one inlay project I have done. It's a small bandsaw box I did for a friend who likes skulls and spades.
