Hey,

I have been out of the loop for a little while, wanted to show a recently finished piece.

This is a crotch mahogany topped singlecut, set over an aspen core. I used a matching set of wood for the back plate. It is set up with two singlecoils, volume, blend, treble, bass, mid EQ, with a variable mid frequency boost selector circuit. It plays well, if not a little punchy for those who are passive to the core, but overall, I think it is a really nice bass - but hey, I built it :).

Thanks!
Stephen

Nice to see you post here again, Z! I've missed your presence on this board, as well as your beautiful work.
The instrument above is another fine example.

Wow!
When I first saw this I thought the upper upper bout looked weird,
but I like it, a lot!
Different is good.
Only thing I don't like about it is,
and this is my own thing as a player is,
too many knobs!

Yeah...the knobs...
I originally installed a pixel transfer in the aspen core laminate, so that had its own treble roll off and volume. Then after i went through work to design and print a custom dreams, and spent forever tuning the gain and the corners, i decided i did not like it and installed the 3 band eq. Alas....
