Jimmi Wingert has been doing all my inlay, since I have the artistic ability of a gorilla she has been handling all my custom work. She did the flag rosette and headstock in my bio picture, the one here is for a customer. I was planning a new fanned fret for Healdsburg and through a mutual friend this gentleman found out and told me the next one I did was his

I was planning on doing the guitar with snakewood everywhere I could fit it, during some online research I came across the Oroboris which is a snake eating it'self, I though it was neat and worked with Jimmi on getting a design and this is what she came up with. The design is based on lots of artwork I copied from the net but she did it way better than anything else I have seen.

The inlay has all kinds of connotations throughout history and is normally seen as a sign of eternity, The outside is standard cocobolo, with purfling and then snakewood in the center around the snake.

I have her now starting on inlay for an all Koa guitar that will have native hawaiin flowers on the rosette, headstock and heelcap..

Good Stuff

Paul,

That is awesome! She does some incredible work. Post some more pics of the guitar as you build it, if you can. I would enjoy seeing more.

Paul,
Is that Kathy Wingert's Daughter? Kathy had told me her daughter was doing some beautiful inlay. I didn't know how beautiful until now. WOW!

I'm supposed to quit now??

I can't, I'm hooked man..

I dropped it into the top today, it was the only thing I worked on all day and it turned out perfect but man was I nervous. After I lost a piece in the performax dropping in the rosette is a nervous time for me, but the circle jig saved the day and a new vacuum piece that holds the rosettes flat.

Tomorrw I'll start working on getting the top braced, everything else on that guitar is done or just about done for assembly so now it's time to rock!!

Cheers

I'll let Kathy know about it, next time I talk to her. We talk to Jimmi every couple of weeks to keep track of whats going on, but I haven't chatted with Kathy in a while, she's been really busy builing as of late.

Cheers
