It's always difficult to buy before you try. Maybe Brad has some recordings. It does look like a spruce top.

I hear what you are saying....I paly ragtime/blues/fingerstyle. I have a J-185 -16" size ( that is also for sale) with a WRC top that I play all the time and the bass on that thing is awesome-the trebles ain't bad either...
