What is everyones preferred method for purchasing 16-32 sandpaper? Do you buy the precuts or do you buy the rolls and cut yourself? Whats the best quality? The sandpaper that is Jet branded and precut doesn't seem all that great.

I buy the long rolls from Klingspor, with the colored lines on the back to signify where to cut, depending on which sander you have. It is boxed in Jet boxes. I would rather buy it that way than in individual rolls. If there are better brands, I would be interested.

I buy the precut rolls for my Delta from Klingspor. I tried buying uncut rolls from elsewhere but quit when I decided the paper just wasn’t up to the quality I wanted—too many tears. I like the convenience of the precut rolls. They always fit and it’s a quick change. The cost is easily absorbed into what I charge for a guitar.

I cut the new sandpaper using the old one as a template. Mirka Abranet is the best sandpaper for my drum sander. The net structure makes it less sensitive to oily woods like rosewood. I need to retention the papers now and then to keep it in place though, but that's not a big deal. https://www.amazon.com/Mirka-9A-570-080-Abranet-10yd-Mesh/dp/B004IQUICC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=mirka+abranet+roll+80&qid=1660064164&s=industrial&sr=1-1-catcorr

I buy rolls from a https://www.fintechabrasives.com/

The paper quality is good. I did buy a few precut Kingspor rolls once when i lost the thread on cutting my own and wanted a fresh template, and did not notice any demonstrable improvement. The fintech stuff is quite affordable, especially if you buy three packs…

I bought a roll from Fintech based on Ed's recommendation and was more than satisfied. I cut it myself because there aren't many choices for a 18-38 sander. Before that I used Klingspor precut.

I use the Mirka Gold PSA Autokut Roll, 2-3/4" x 20 yds, 80-grit MRK-23-574-080. The clips on my old Performax don't work so well, so I use the adhesive backed roll and use the one I remove as a pattern.

Do you have a link for where you purchase yours?

I think the last ones I got came from Amazon. I believe you can also get them from Rockler and others.

I looked at the math of large rolls vs. pre-cut. There is a small savings. For my sander (25"), $8.00 USD per wrap on the large rolls vs. $8.38 per wrap if pre-cut. I don't mind cutting the paper on the colored lines, and I like having lots of replacement paper on hand, so the larger rolls are better for me. Not a huge difference. I may have to look into the better types of paper, but for now, I consider it a consumable and don't worry too much about having to replace it when modest cleaning won't work. My drum is pretty easy to wrap.

FYI-I just bought Jet rolls on Amazon. They were half price because the box was damaged. Look under "Used." I saved my old box for the new rolls.
