Nice! I did that not so long ago, it made a huge difference for me.

Tidying up happens per job and is billed to the customer. The clock starts when the instrument hits the bench and stops when it’s back in its case and all tools used in the job are stowed away. Sweeping, vaccuming etc happens on my own time.

This is a week off for me. This year my shop is badly in need of various maintenance tasks - new case storage racks to be built, rehanging my lighting (36 x double 4ft tube fixtures) and finally getting around to relocating the machinery that had pride of place when I was building (planer, jointer etc) but is rarely used for repair.

However I am spending the week with family and so I probably won’t have a chance to do any of it! Back into the thick of work next week!

I have some old 4' fixtures and the "led" bulbs for them don't last. Worthless in the basement in the winter. It's 52 down there now. 55-56 if I'm working. What king of fixtures actually work?

The four 2' black lights I have in the trash can in the garage for drying varnish don't work at all for that in the winter either. Ah for the summer days of instruments drying in the sun. I've done it in the winter here too; but we haven't had any sun in a week. Just a little this afternoon.

I bought 4’ fixtures from Costco when they were on sale. They are linkable which made it easier to wire. I swapped out the two light fixtures (simple sockets with pull chain) for a ceiling outlet plate and wired the shop into two sections so they can be lit independently.

On recommendation from someone here in the group, I bought two extras as replacements but haven’t needed them. I think there are 10 of them down there now.

Hope that helps.
