Here is the latest Luthier Tips du Jour video. In this video I test a water based finish to see if it can be spot repaired.
This video as well as all my other videos are available via my website, https://lutherieacademy.com/videos , or on Youtube.
Don't forget to subscribe to my channel if you want to get the latest Luthier Tips du Jour videos when they are released.

That's good info about Brite Tone finish. I would add that water based finishes are not all created equal. I used EM6000 for years on multiple instruments and had several "opportunities" to repair sand-throughs, chip outs, and dings. I found that EM6000 repairs invisibly with no witness lines for all those types of repairs. It's one really great characteristic of that finish.

A couple years ago, I switched to Endurovar (also water-based) and fortunately/unfortunately have not had similar repair opportunities (yet). I've been wondering how well it would repair. Your video has inspired me to make a test panel at the same time I finish the instrument I'm currently building and test it out the way you did the Brite Tone finish.
