I just came up from the basement, and the song that finished up on my iPod was:

https://youtu.be/1SnQVOjqFwg?si=thV_bbSZfzREkvXL

We saw him in concert a few years back, and he said, "I know it's Michigan, but I have to play some banjo, and played that. I'm still alive.

I watched the rest of the Roundtable last night. Sorry I had to duck out early on Saturday. I’m always interested to see what everyone is up to.

I wanted to amend a small detail I mentioned in the Roundtable about the Gore/Gilet neck joint. I said that the paddle under the fingerboard extension is 1/16” smaller than the extension along the sides. Actually, the overhang is a bit larger than that. If you are thinking about doing something like this, I suggest looking at the Build book. I can’t remember what it recommends, but I went with an overhang that was slightly less than recommended by the book. It wasn’t as small as 1/16”, though.

Another thing of note about the Gore/Gilet neck joint that we did not touch on is the use of a brass bar (square profile, with threaded holes) in the neck heel instead of threaded inserts. You need a mortising machine to do this right, but once you do it, you see how solid it is, compared to threaded inserts. I like the brass bar approach very much.

Anyway, thanks as always to Brad for coordinating the Roundtable. Those of us who participate are very grateful for your willingness to do it!

Just want to thank Brad for hosting and all the participants. I don't think I've missed an episode and find it an enjoyable hour+ every month. Always pick up a few tips along the way too.

One of these days I'll have to figure out the zoom thing and try to join in. Just hard for me to schedule time on Saturdays but I'll work on it.

So thanks much!

Hear, hear. I don't get to participate as much as I'd like, but I can't tell you how much of a treat it is when I'm able to.

I haven’t participated in person either but I will add my opinion that these videos are an amazing resource for people learning about guitar building. They’ve made me realize what a great forum this is. Please keep it up!
