Lance, due to the recent surge of spammers, is it time to rethink the policies? It is becoming less desirable to weed through the spam to find the good stuff.

Hi Barry,
The Cyrillic alphabet might be a clue. gaah laughing6-hehe I know there have been a few new threads I've clicked on that were obviously spam from the first post, and a few Zombie threads where the spammers resurrected an old thread and the only new post is spam, but I think Lance is keeping up with it pretty well.
On "moderated" forums it seems like the moderators eventually become the "thought police" and try to protect the members from things they don't agree with. I think we have maintained a modicum of civility without moderators, and if Lance keeps an eye out and takes out the garbage it's a good thing.

It sure seems like the scurves have been focused on our little hangout a lot lately and I sympathize with Lance for having to do so much clean up work. Best we can do is ignore the nastardlies and alert Lance so he can show those threads and posts the side door.

Lance does not have to do all the work himself. Just need to change a few things. Over on the MIMF we require everyone to register with their full name. And I review every person registering an account before they can post. Also, we no longer do the "thought police" thing, but we do have rules about shilling and rude behavior. This is not difficult.
