I want to make some templates for making bridges in batches. I have the top view printed to scale that I got off of the Stewmac site. Can anyone send me the side and end views please?

Many years ago, I had the dream of using my Lexan bridge template as a router pattern. When the router hit the endgrain, I was awakened from that dream. I use the template to trace the outline, cut outside the outline on the bandsaw, and sand up to it. I use the template a lot, but not to guide the router.

I'll keep that in mind and make some practice runs. I also have a robo sander, I think they call it. sanding drum with a guide bearing at the bottom for doing this. Goes in the drill press and is much safer but a lot slower.

if you weren't using your bandsaw to get real close to the pattern, then using the router to bring it to perfection, then you were tickling the sleeping dragon (and proceeded to wake it up when you routed the end grain)

end grain has always been the bane of routers...careful climb cutting to try and avoid explosions often results in burn marks and even then it might tear apart to boot

I don’t want to wake the dragon, but… a compression flush trim bit like this could help. I use these for headstock routing and (so far) has been very kind to the end grain.

Agreed with the above, minimize the cut to ~.030 to .040”.

Using the Robosander leaves about a 1/32 edge proud. I have had no issues switching to the router at that point to finish. I usually do a climb cut. Any thicker than a 32nd and there has been some unpleasantness.
