The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

The use of spalted wood is so good. It looks like marble or something almost. Very cool.

I like your burst pattern leaving the center on the upper bout. It gives a different feel than a standard sunburst.

I’m going to say one more thing.. the shape is really good, I agree. Over time I’ve become really tuned into the shape, especially the curves around the upper bout neck area and coming into and out of the waist. The curves here are all clean fair curves. Too often there are flat spots and we don’t want that.

Dave Farmer has ruined me by opening my eyes to it. :D I’m secretly judging everyone on instagram.
