According to the friend who sent it to me it is VERY REAL. However, due to optical illusion the planes are no where near as close as they appear. Infact they are at least 225 meters or 736 feet apart...the reguired distance of the FAA for flying parallel.

Ah yes ... this is referred to as the "telephoto compression" effect. A wide-angle lens can also be used to exaggerate the distance.

Turns out the camera can tell the most effective lies of all, by revealing only part of the truth!
