I'm inclined to make it shorter than a 14 fret because its further up the neck,or down depending on how you look at it ,how much shorter? My Martin plans call for a 3 7/8ths block, at the 14th fret, What would the 12fret be? The difference may be negligible, because were only talking 1/2" longer body.LanceK38356.8844444444

Lance, my ooo-12's are 3-3/4 at upper bout and my OM-14's are 3-13/16 so I would not vary more than 1/16-1/8 from your D-14's depth. But I can't say I have see a D-12 before

A 12 fret Dread is actually quite common. Check the Martin and Santa cruz and Collings and... sites They are usually the slope shoulder variety

John: Are 14 fret Slope D's equally as popular? I am just finishing up my Slope D molds now and have a set of coco in the bender.

12 Fret dreds sound great. I am not a huge fan of dreds, but I am really interested in these. I already have too much on my "stuff to work on" list, but I have been thinking about a slope sholder 12 fretter.

I'm not at all sure Tim, I'm not a big fan of dreads myself but am going to do a slope shoulder just to cover the base and it'll probably be a 14 fretter.

Lance,
I don't change the size of the neck block unless I make a smaller body such as a parlor or a thin body. Mine is a "c" flat on top and bottom and sanded to same contour when sanding the Kerf linning to the sides on the "big wheel". Here is a pic:
