Thank's Hesh. Yes sir, I would say I am semi-pro in as much as I put alot of hours in every week in addition to my day job. I am blessed to have a list to work off. It's funny, I have been building these things for 16 years but I still have a hard time refering to myself as a luthier. I have enormous respect for people that can do this and make a living at it. BTW, I love the look of your Black-top guitar. Very classy.

Hey Hesh and everyone else....
I know I been away a while (comp problems mainly!)
but other than that... everything I need to take care of at my new place has made me a very busy(and happy) man!
the gardens beautiful (and delicious) and the shops productive!
I am almost done my shop though and Ill upload some photos soon.
Ill just say for now...
"Having space to move freely in your shop.... priceless"

I thought I would share some of my before and after pics of my shop. My wife and I bought a heritage house in downtown Camrose Alberta built in 1917...way cool house. The garage was pretty much useless as a garage...but great shop potential.

The floor was tough!

I removed the old garage door and framed in a walk in...

I insulated vapour barriered and put in sub floor...

Here is a shot of setting it up...


I put my table saw and delta thickness sander on wheels so I can move them around when I need them. My band saw is in the other side of the shop. I have a delta band saw with a 6" riser block. I can resaw my own wood if necessary. It's a cosy shop but I like it.

I showed pictures of my new shop a few months back so this is old news for some of you, but since I have the pictures...

My previous shop had evolved for some years as my building habits developed and as new machinery was added, but I ran out of space and didn't like how some of the work stations were organized. I like to work with hand tools most of the time, and the biggest of my two room shop is more or less dedicated to hand tool work (I had everything crammed in this room before). To keep the main room cleaner, I put most of the large dust producing heavy machines in an adjacent room.

And benches along the walls for more specialized tasks

Separate room not climate controlled, with my zoot. My belt sanders are in here now.
