After 5 years of moderate use, the height adjusting screw finally gave out.....
Looks like 8 hex screws to remove the shroud/housing to release the screw.....have the new part...supplier had minimal advise....
Just checking before I delve into it.....

Inboard sandpaper clip is another....back-ordered for a while....been using medium viscosity CA with good results! Sometimes hi-tech isn't the best way...?

Any power tool maintenance shops available? These folks make their living keeping shop tools alive, and if they haven't seen that partricular problem, they've seen enough similar ones.

Done...gotta remove the drum....aprox. 16 hex screws and misc stuff.....give yourself 1 hr....need 3 sizes to remove hex screws....Not that complicated....just dont mix up threads, etc....

probably similar to replacing inboard clip.......

That happened to me too. The height adjusting screw is threaded in the soft aluminum cast, a terrible design. To fix it, the threaded hole must be drilled bigger and an insert in hard metal with threads matching the screw mounted. Not a problem if you have the tools and the right threaded insert.

For me, it was the actual hole that stripped and couldn't grip the threaded bolt any longer. I used a thread repair kit and it worked fine for me. Dunno if that helps at all.

There is a guy from the UK who makes repair kits for these, because the manufactures parts are still not up to it apparently. His kits are sometimes available online. His name is Ken Timms and can be found and contacted through the UkuleleUnderground forum by the name "Timbuck". He also has Youtube videos showing how to use the kits, search for Ken Timms .
