I like to keep my backs at .100-.110 depending on the wood.
what do you guys do? I have a Tazmanian Blackwood set thinned out to .095" is that too thin?

I've gone as low as .065, and it worked great. Normally my backs are
around .070-.090 depending on stiffness and weight.

I usually don't allow a back or side to stay over .085". Of late my little guitars are around .070" on the back and sides.

I to have found thinner backs on my guitars. It started by accident and I will to backs normally at .090

I'm using about .07-.075 on backs & sides, and about .065 on cutaways. These are for 000 and smaller guitars. For larger SJ's, I'll go to .080 on backs.

I stay at 0.095" or a little below for Mahogany and Walnut. Anything
dense like the Rosewoods go to about 0.080" to 0.085". I could go
thinner but find that once I put the back bracing on - these thicknesses
work really well for me. If you go to thin with the hardwoods, they loose
that "ping" sound. I try to go as thin as possible and still retain the sound
I am looking for. However, I would rather go thinner than be on the too
thick side.

Hold them up to the light, if you can read a newspaper through it, you might be to thin! anything less and they are probably ok

I take mine down to .070-.080 depending upon the wood

    I finish up with the following dimensions depending on stiffness.

Back - .070" to .090"
Sides- .070" to .080"
Top - .100" to .125"

Cedar tops can finish up as thick as .145" depending on the piece.
