What's the name of the industrial supply house that sells the string steel by the roll?
Also what thickness do you guys use for your benders?
TIA, John

John,
I purchased a few rolls from McMaster Carr. I purchased the .007 Blue Tempered Spring Steel. I recently purchased a roll of .015 Stainless for a new bender I am working on and it seems thick. Probably .010 would be good.

I believe that .010 is indeed the gauge of choice for blued steel slats John.

Cheers

The stuff I ordered is.012" thick so I think it'll be fine. MSC also has 6"x50" pieces so you don't have to buy 20 ft to get a couple of workable slats.

I`m looking for some slats as well. How long/ many uses does one get before they get brittle, or will they?

I have found that .015 is what you need. I carry them and they are in stock. Check out my online catalog.

No, just replacing the wornout slats
