Hi gang,

I've been asked to build a 6/12 acoustic doubleneck.

Anyone ever done this or know where I could lay my paws on a pic of a bracing pattern other than the Ovation, cos I don't have a spare plastic bath to use as a back.........

Thanks in advance!!martinedwards38913.2162731482

Been there done that ... here is mine, the X has 20 thou CF laminated in it, the bridge patch is likely a tad heavy at 3/16. I believe the X is sized at 10x18mm. The top is koa obviously, and was about .130 thick. i f I had to do it again (and I ahve been asked by more than one), I would make the neck block(s) one piece - it makes for an easier bend between the necks, as this one is actually two piece, both bent at about 50-60 thou, then epoxied together. You are also seeing a fairly heavy upper transverse, this allowed me to use all bolt on necks (see the thread on neck setting, you can see a neck that I used to use in there, same as for this guitar) It had to be 1/2 inch thick to allow for the mortice and small bolt to go into the FB extensions

You got to love a guy who can switch between imperial and metric for building guitars.

Way to go Tony, your so Canadian.

Oh, awsome guitar as usual.

yeah, weird huh .. some things I only know the measurement in metric, others imperial. Bridges, 6 inches long, saddle slot is 1/8 or 3/16 by 70mm, string spacing is 55 at the bridge, 1 3/4 at the nut !!! Sides 85 thou, backs 100-110 ..goes on and on. after all its just a number right. somethings are jsut easy to split if its metric. I use 25.4 scale, but cut all the slots in mm distances, set the intonation that way as well !!!
Lower bouts, thats in inches. Goofy stuff.

Thanks Tony, that looks great!!

How does having some strings not crossing the soundhole affect the sound? I was thinking about two soundholes with a "figure-of-eight" rosette, but a single would be easier.......

I dont know - should it make a difference ??? You are still exciting the top via string vibration - its not like the soundhole has to be under the strings.

Martin what a challenge!! You're gonna make it with great success; what woods will you use?

Of course there is the option of side upper bout sound ports..

This guitar has one soundhole, but notice it is larger and more oval A-LA Django Reinhardt
