ya, i'm another canadian. i live near winnipeg, manitoba.
i think my original comment about giving a nod to larivee with the mosaic rosette on a steel string might have been kind of crytic. on some of his earliest steel strings he carried over the mosaic from his classical background. that's what i'm wanting to connect with - even if it is in a really subtle way.
i've always liked the look, and certainly am proud of the canadian steel string legacy larivee set off and nurtured through his apprenticeships. my own ears prefer the asymetrical bracing of martin over the symetrical pattern of larivee and his apprentices. but i love it that canada has a sort of 'signature sound' and even a signature look i think.
