Great #one Coe!
I love the maple binding.
It looks like you got a nice match up with the neck wood choice as well.
I also like your bridge design.

Wade

Absolutely beautiful, Coe! You did that fretboard proud!

I am anxious to hear how you made and bent that herringbone purfling. It is very classy looking; I have always been nervous about trying that, because long time ago I got herringbone with a Stew Mac kit and found that it didn't bend easily (and it was pre-bent!).

Excellent work!

Great work! Doesn't look like you left much room for improvement.

Got the fever burning good now, don't you.

Man, Coe, that's just outstanding! Nice design and wood choices. I like that elegant purfling line on the fingerboard, too.

Now, straighten that fence!

What everyone else said, Coe.
I love walnut, and yours looks fantastic!

Steve

P.S.-- No one here will think hard thoughts of you if you BUY your next herringbone. Steve Kinnaird38946.6809259259

Thanks alot Gang!
Raising the bar? I might have just slipped under compared to the beauties I`ve seen in the time I`ve been here! But hey, I`m happy with that.
I consider this build my milestone into guitar building. Even if I don`t aquire Luthier status, I can still be content with building and repairing guitars.
There`s nothing like hearing actual sound coming out of what started out as a stack of wood and a dream. All the time and work getting through the first build are prices well paid, and I`ll do it again. And again.
For those of you that are getting started with little or no experience and equipment, don`t be intimidated by the cost. I really doubt if I have 1k wrapped up in my shop, and have aquired a modest amount of wood stash over the last year that will last for quite awhile, depending on my personal production in the future.
Now, as far as the sound goes on this gal, it`s a little too early to tell, as I`m not a player (YET) and I still need to get my saddle shaped up and moved to the rear just a tad. Anybody have a scale stretcher they can lend me? The sustain is impressive, and I can set it to singing if I bump the workbench while it`s lying on it.
The herrinbone purfling was a project in itself. I`m kicking myself for not having a working camera at the time I was making it. I merely made a multi-layer sandwhich out of walnut and maple, ripped it down countless times and reglued those rips to the point where I had a rather large "card" made up. From there, I cut my purfs at a 30 degree angle and went to town. The best thing I did was to use Titebond ll for the glue up. With a little heat from a woodburning pen, it settled right into place with no qualms. BTW, the robo sander and bandsaw were my best buddies on this. If anyone needs to know more detail on this, just ask, but I`ll warn you, it`s a book in itself.
Steve K, that`s what I was thinking after the fact!
Now to place credit where it is due, and that is with the OLF and all the truly great people here. There is such a great wealth of knowledge and experience here that is just waiting to be gleaned.
Thanks to everyone!
Coe

personally i don't care if you built it twice or three times, the end result is stunning... Congradulations!! I am about to start my first and with the same wood combo, so you have given me great inspiration... You should be, and i'm sure you are, very very proud..

Wow! Superb work there Coe. That neck to body joint looks dead-on tight!

Beautiful wood combo and great worksmanship! I'm already looking forward to no.2!

I've had to come back and have another look at the pictures 4 times today.
All I can say is WOW!
I really like the walnut and the walnut neck is perfect.
Is the bridge also made of walnut?
Outstanding guitar.

WOW! That is a beautiful instrument. Ain't it a kick to hear it ? What finish did you use ?, it's a treat for the eyes. We want more pictures, close ups of that nice neck, rosette and bridge. Clinton

Great work Coe,

You gotta be proud of yourself for persevering but now it's all been worth while, what a fantastic first guitar. The only problem I see that you have made for yourself is that your gonna struggle to put this one down so you can start the next.

Make sure you let us all know how she sounds.

Have fun, and once again well done

Thanks again, all.
It really is a thrill to hear this guitar sing, even though I have to finish the setup and intonation.
Don`t be a bit surprised if I need to call on y`all again to aid me in the technicalities. I think I have it figured out, though.
Yes, the bridge is walnut and the finish in the pics is merely a good base to what is destined to be FP
I`ll get more pics to y`all next week when I`m done with the finishing touches.
Mike, IIRC, you might have some of the same wood that I used in this build. I made my pins from Corian.
Kim, You are so right, man. I don`t want to put it down nor let down the strings to finish up, but I`ll force myself.
