Hi Folks,

Anyone remember this "cat"? If so, you're dating yourselves! Gold MOP, red coral, larger eye engraved.
Thanks for looking!

Paul

Nice work Paul! I think Martin did a Felix themed guitar, except the whole thing was laminated on. Yours is much nicer!

It's some sort of electric kit guitar. i believe the neck was from Warmoth.
I just heard from one of the guys at Felix the cat productions. They want another one done.

I'll post a picture of the completed project when they pass it on.

Here's an earlier image prior to final sanding.
I left out the white river pearl in the materials listed at the beginning of the post. It's used for the face.

Whimsical, well-executed, humorous, light-hearted, beautiful, and downright delectable.

Go Paul, nice inlay.

Neato, Paul. Question: Do you have to pay some sort of royalty to the Felix people when you use an image like that?

Hey Ron,
you just sang the Meow Mix song! My father was the director and cameraman for all those commercials in the 70's and 80's. I used to watch him film those when I was a kid.
Thanks for the memory!
Evan

Ron, This is for Don Oriolo, the son of the artist that helped create the Felix character.

felix history

They actually still have a production company with retro Felix the cat items.

Don't feel bad, I didn't know either!
To be honest, when I received an e mail from "felix the cat", I thought some SPAMMER had a clever sense of humor.
For some reason, I decided to open the message.

Wow, Evan, that must be some great memory. I always liked those commercials. Can't imagine how exciting it would have been as a kid to see the real thing.

Ron it was alot of fun growing up with that, he also did all the food footage for Burger King, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, etc etc.... He won about 13 Clios' (Oscar equivalent)several for the Meow Mix campaign. I actually keep the stuffed cat he used to focus the camera before the real cats were put on the set in my shop. It was the stunt cat!

Well, that's too bad. If you get the chance, ask him if he's ever considered a custom-built instrument to go with his custom inlay. Some of the guys here make superb electrics! BTW, it's very cool that you're getting at least two commissions out of this!
