I was just brousing around Gibson's site and saw mention of their Custom Shop Auction. Well it so happens that the guitar in the first picture is Mine! I bought this one at the auction. She is a Beauty. An L4-CES Jazz box. Thought you might like to see the guitar...

If you click on "Custom Shop" it takes you yet another link to the Summer Jam party. These guys take much better pictures than me! Dave-SKG38954.376724537

Its funny Dave, in the mid 80's I was working at Alex's music on 48th st and we had an L4ces. I thought it was the best guitar I ever played and for years said to people. I sold the best guitar I ever played when I should have bought it myself. 10 years later I found another one and it too was the best guitar I ever played so I started realizing I LOVE L4ces'!! In the last few years I have worked on about 10 and they are all amazing, there is a picture of me holding one on my website.
Great purchase use it well.
PS can I borrow it?
Evan

Evan,
I realy love this model/it too. At first I bought it just to re-sell the auction prices were real low. Then when I got it home I simply couldn't part with it.

p.s. Yes you can borrow it...at least I know you can fix it if something happens in shipping!

Dave,

I understand why you'd keep it. Good Gibsons (yes, there are some!) have a special mojo that's hard to match. It's why we like sunbursts here in Michigan.

Nice Score... Those are really nice guitars! About 10 years ago, I bought a new All-Mahogany version of your model. It was absolutely a sight to behold. However, when I got it home, the next day I deemed myself not worthy of such a fine piece, and consequently I returned it & came away w/ a used ES-335 instead (suited me better).

I still think about the mahogany top on that guitar. I have not seen another one since...

Thanks everyone.

Dave,
Anytime you want to come down is great. Just give me a heads up so I know when. I or you can set something up with Keith and then we could go down to Keith's and hopefully Bozo's again. It would be great fun!
