I'm sorry these pics are out of order-but after you shape your piece that your inlaying - bandsaw or hand saw the pieces NUMBERING each piece so they can be put together in sequence for the rose.
I set the saw for 3mm.
I use a 3 ply pickguard material under the pieces so they do not fall into the saw.-you can use a different insert that has a small slot or tape off the slot so nothing falls into the saw.

USE PUSHSTICKS !!!!
ONe to push and one to hold the piece against the fence.
Cut the piece with the outside radius facing up so that it will NOT rock up & down and mess it up.

This is an eight piece sanding jig!
As you can see I cut the size circle I needed to make the rose in mdf then cut that piece in half!there is a batten under the jig that fits the slot in the table!
I put each piece in the slot (which is 13mm)
I make all my classical roses with a 13mm center and usually 7 to 10mm for steels.
I turn the belt by hand!
while I hold the piece up against the disc (120 grit)
Then place the pieces in the slot i routed in the guitar top that is the same radius.
if they are fine go to the next piece-if not figure out why and return to the sander or use a hand held block to get the desired joint.Mike Collins38972.6824074074

This is the jig I sand the outside radius with for classicals.
The piece of mahogany has a slot in it so it can move for & aft!
The piece that holds the workpiece is corked -it hold the workpiece better with it.
This jig sits on a base that has a batten that fits in the slot in the sanding table -and the base has a piece of brass for the top piece which is cut for the outside radius of the rose to ride against!
Is this clear ?
Look at the pic and it will be clearer.
Just slowly sand the radius on the piece .

Hear you can see the jig doing its job.
Try it with a junk piece first just in case anything goes wrong.
I have NO junk wood in my shop -I love every piece!!!!

I'll stop here for now so if anyone needs to ask a question I can respond before the next pics go up!
thanks

Mike,
Thank you for posting this and all your time to do so. I have waisted so much material on my rosettes. But that is now in the past. This is a great help!
