With all the dark clouds hanging over the forum I thought I'd just give you all some good news.

Following her massive stroke and a slow recovery, my mother has come home from the hospital today, I've made a new bedroom for her downstairs, until I get a stair lift fitted (I need planning permision for that as my house is 500+ years old and has a listing protection).

She visibly brightened up when she came through the front door!

Can I thank all of you in OLF land for your kind thoughts and messages. I don't know if they did her any good , but they sure helped me.

Colin

Colin that is good news indeed. I'd like to think all our well wishes did help your mom. In any case it sure is great to hear some good news. Enjoy your mom.

Colin,

Great news. Time for you to make a 500 year old stair lift using just hand tools

That is wonderful news Colin. We will be thinking about your mum, she has a long road a head of her. I hope that she and you can meet all those difficult moments with laughter.

Great news! If your building authorities are anything like over here they will probably require a stair lift that can be installed and removed later without damage to the existing constructions. Here, access for disabled usually has higher priority so you would not have a problem getting a permit, but the paper work can be tedious. Best wishes from just across the North Sea.

Me too Colin! And what terrific news about your mom coming home! My favorite book has a passage which says in part, "Honor your father and mother". You're a good man and a good son! No wonder your mom's face lit up as she came thru the door! Good on ya!
