Hey Gang...

Not sure if I can do this (lance remove this if I can't), does anyone know what the wood is that is inlayed into this fingerboard in this ad??

I want to inlay something like that into a guitar I'm working on and I'm just not sure what it is...

It's not maple, could be mahogany but that seems too soft for a fingerboard...

Thanks

are you referring to the purfling strip on the fingerbord? It is probably just a dyed maple veneer, don't you think.

I add these all the time to my fingerboards and have not seen a problem with wear.

Yes that's exactly what I'm referring to, not sure if it's dyed or some type of natural color. I've seen it before and I want to duplicate that stripe..

I use cherry veneer strips for that golden/tan purfling line (also in body purflings) on fingerboards. It is fairly hard, although it's so thin as to not be a worry for wear on the edge of a fingerboard.

Ooooh good idea, I can get some from a place in Oakland that has a ton of veneers...

Thanks Hank
