Thanks Michael

Yes, that's what i had done with the previous kind of finish, i had sprayed it on and scraped the area of the bridge after but didn't like the way that finish looked

Thanks

Ok what ever you do do not put masking tape on the bridge. the adhesive will be drawn out of the tape and contaminate the muneca both inner and outer pads, and make a mess.

Also you will find that it is near impossibel to spirit off on the top as well as you would like. in this case and in this case only spit off across grain wher needed to get up agist the bridge. pinch shape the muneca into a point so that you can get tight to the bridge without spreading alcohol and shellac on to the bridge.MichaelP38974.7440856481

No Hesh I don't on French polish applications and here is why. The hand rubbing of body sessions and spiriting off causes the adhesive on the tape to migrate out a congeal with the shellac. what a mess! For this reason I don't bother with locating the bridge till after the finish is complete. So I end up scraping the finish off under the bridge and fretboard extension.MichaelP38974.8319560185

That's always the way I've seen it done, but never new why. Now it makes sense!
