Oh come on...you guys must have some fight left in ya...come on...remember Rocky, I, II, III, IV, and V? Let's push it all the way to 1000. Come on...How else will I ever reach Grizzled Veteran?

O.K. I appologize...does that get ya going? Come on...I didn't realy mean it! That's right so now what do ya have to say about that! Put your tape where your mouth is...Want me to say something bad about those guitar cases? I have been holding back...don't make me cut loose.

FOLKS I'M just KIDDING...NO More Posts... I wish you all the best!

But then again... why should we listen to the vocal minority who say end it! Fight on my Brothers! Never let the torch go out! For if we quit now what will tommorrow bring?! What will be next?...today it's guitars, next it's...picolos, trumpets, even small tomtom drums will come under attack. We must fight on...the cause is greater than the end result! We will never rest !!! The means justify the end!. Or vise versa! We can never sleep...no mater how...we tire...

The problem with this entire bruha is not that someone said I find the post offensive but that call came to take it down, theperson presuming that if he did not like it others should not see it. Huge problem in our country that others believe they should think for us. I presume that the pro-censurship mob never visit art museums or just about any other country in the world. The body, in those places is either art or simply a body, without this Puritanical outlook here that is being foisted upon us every day. Power to the people and the Constitution.

I've tried to ignore this thread but since it takes half a page of scrolling to get to the next, I thought I'd read on. Wow, that's a half hour of my life I'll never get back.
Everyone's got an opinion and each thinks his/hers is 100% right. You know, it's pretty easy to pick on someone when you have a bunch of people backing you up. Bruce spoke his mind, and, though I don't agree with the degree of offensiveness, he had every right to do so. It's pretty easy to badmouth someone when you can hide behind the keyboard and not look them in the eye.
Then, if that wasn't enough, Lance somehow became the bad guy. Hey Collin, little piece of info, this is Lance's forum. He makes the rules. He can make them up as he goes. He can change them if he sees fit. It's his. Would you go into someone's house and rant and rave about how they keep it up? I think you should feel lucky because your comments would have gotten you booted from another popular Musical Instrument Makers Forum. I think Lance is a very gracious host to put up with talk like that.
You all talk about the vocal minority. Well, if you weren't so complacent in life, there would be not such thing. If the majority spoke up proactively rather than complaining that the minority gets everything their way, maybe something would get accomplished in this world.
About the censorship: Lance did the right thing. Again, even if it was the wrong thing, it's his playground, he can take his ball and go home if he sees fit. But I find it very interesting in society (America especially) that simply covering a nipple makes it non graphic. Let a little nipple slip out and it's front page news for a week (think Superbowl). But if you simply cover the nipple it's no longer offensive. Lance, that was in no way a stab at your efforts to make the images less offensive, just an observation about society.
Now about the technique, I find it very interesting. Nothing I would ever put on my guitars but very interesting nontheless.
Ok, Brock, I think the dead horse has been pummled now. Pwoolson38446.8789236111

Paul,
I agree with you. You are 100% right...well almost 100%...see Bruce opened his mouth and he opened himself up for whatever from whomever. He's a Big boy...he knows all too well what his words will do. I too am a big boy ( in more than one way) and take full responsibility for the pics I posted. But one has to look at one's motives before passing judgement. Was bruce's feelings hurt no. was he offended? I don't realy think so. Bruce thrives on conflict. He is not owed an appology any more than I am ( and I was directly and indirectly attacked by some). Should I put up an approval list and get everyone to sign off so I don't offend anyone with my next post. As for beating a dead horse you are again 100% right. BUT...what's great about this site is that Lance gives everyone equal footing ( except me ... He likes picking on me!...I like when Lance picks on me!) So what if someone complains and someone else complains about them complaining. Isn't that what makes us Americans? I thought I heard you complaining somewhere in there...come on admit it ... come on... It's a big sand box...Lance owns it...he invites us all over to play...if one guy doesn't want to play we all say "o.k. see you later". We just keep playing. let's keep playing...playing playing playing...playing...are we having fun yet...some please chime in...

I am trying so hard to get the counter up...come on chime in guys...Don't let Paul get away with his jack/pompass comments...

Brock put your cape on and get in here....we need ya bro!

Exactly...that's what I said 90 posts ago. It's his site he did what he thought was right and we all live or die by it . Now who can't accept that. I thanked him!

WOW...811 views and 83 replies!

I seem to only get on the forum after long and tiring days when my resistance to holding my tongue is low...so here goes my last post on this thread.

I respectfully disagree with the opinion that I may have been discourteous toward the reaction by the vocal minority. Anyone should feel justified in responding to an unreasonable attack. I make no apologies for anything I have said on this issue. It was from my heart and brain and I consider those opinions to be true...and Dave should not be held responsible for offending anyone.

...It was a hissey fit
...It was narrow-minded thinking
...It was an unreasonable demand to remove something that would be commonly considered art
...It is NOT porn by anyone's definition
...I was offended and embarrassed by the censorship
...Lance had every right to do it...he's the boss
...and we have every right to stay friends or leave the forum...I choose to stay friends and remain on the forum
...So we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I hope the edited photo doesn't cause my daughter to start putting electric tape on her breasts or god forbid on my guitars.

I think it's a cool looking guitar and wish I could have seen it without the edits.

BTW, what does everyone think about the Buzz Feiten Retro. I asked one of the top repair guys in the Phoenix area what he thought of it and he said it was one of the biggest scams around. He believes a well built guitar doesn't need it.

This is my lame attempt to getting an argument going about guitars instead of censorship

Joe

other than a brief look when first posted i hadn't visited this trhead as it was of no particular interest to me. its growing length arroused my curiosity so i had a second look.

how could so much time effort and verbiage be wasted over photos of human baby feeders. seems to be evidence of:

     prurient minds at work, and/or
a society locked into perpetual adolescent
breast fixation, and or guilt about both

the human body isn't evil or obscene, but the workings of some of the minds as evidenced above borders on it.

and while petty moralists self righteously occupy our attention real obscenities are perpetrated, people suffer and die needlessly, vainglorious power mongering is applauded as leadership and the potential for disaster is increased.

there are important things in this world to get worked up about. this was not one of them.

get a life folks.

Wow, for a moment I thought I had accidentally went to Dr. Phil's or Oprah's website. Hopefully, at some point we'll get back to talking about guitars again. Someone had mentioned ending this thread, which I think is a great idea. End this thread and everyone's self-righteous indignation along with it. And believe me, I'm not just talking about those who were offended.

OK. Enough! I don't come hear to hear your political and moral/amoral views of life. Please stop criticizing others and their views, or find another forum to hang out on. Now I'M starting to get offended by people's ranting. Please stop it now.

crazymanmichael you should be ashamed for what you just posted....that was in bad taste. Enough! Or I'm outa here too.Don Williams38447.3131134259

Well, I made a bit of a flipant remark about hooters earlier that I kinda regret, if it contributed to Bruce leaving the forum.

Bruce isn't just the vocal minority, he is a sponsor of our forum (at least the presence of his banner advert suggests he is). He had a view which he obviously thought would be supported by most of us, and he was jumped on for it.

Stay with us Bruce you are a valuable member of this forum.

We are all friends here, right?

Lance,
This is my last post on this thread. I promise. I just want to set the record straight...

1) I posted the pics because I was looking for input and wanted to share something ( the finish ) that I had never seen before. I in no way intended it to offend.

2) A few of you feel that Bruce was "jumped on". Let me set you straight it was Bruce who "jumped on" ME and DEMANDED I REMOVE SOMETHING HE FOUND OFFENSIVE. I don't rule my life by what Bruce thinks.

3) Lance did the right thing...he saw the value in the post...he also knew something had to be done...HE DID AS HE SAW FIT.

4) I appologized several times to those of you felt it was offensive. I offer one last appology again.

5) I might be wrong but this Site was supposed to be for all of us. Not one, or some, all.

6) When I see a thread that I don't like, for what ever reason, I move on. Even if I disagree with it's contents I make no comment to avoid "downing" others.

7) "Smut" as Bruce put it does NOT belong on this forum. I would be the first one to jump up and down if that was what happening here.

8) Someone mentioned that Bruce was a supporter. Does that give him better rights than the rest of the OLF members? I don't think so. Because if it does ... some of you need to take A look and do some math as well...I started "supporting" this forum before 99% of you were here. I give regularly both financialy, and in auction donations as well as professional legal and accounting services. I DON'T THINK I HAVE ANYMORE RIGHTS, OR ANY LESS, THAN BRUCE, OR ANY OF YOU MEMBERS.

Enough said this thread is dead....I am removing my pictures as a good will gesture...I hope Bruce returns.
I apologize sincerly.
