I got some of John's videos this week. (OK I'll admit it I splurged at bought the whole set.) I highly recommend them especially to anyone who has not had the opportunity to take a class held by a builder. Spielberg probably doesn't have anything to worry about , but John does a great job explaining his techniques and just the tap tone lessons on the voicing videos alone are worth the cost of the entire set. John, thanks for the education.

I agree Bob! That voicing one is the best, and well worth the money. I always learn something from him everytime I watch any of his DVD's. Great stuff, and highly recommended for the beginner to intermediate builder!

I bought the whole set last week, too, I've only watched a couple of the videos but they're great so far.

I jumped straight to the voicing and double mortise and tenon tapes and am working my way back through the series now. I really liked the way he explained his voicing technique. Showing how he juggles tap tone and stiffness of the board was an eye opener. I've got some time off next week and hopefully should be able to brace my next top. I'm really looking forward to using what I learned on the tape.

OK, I have never heard of these videos ... Where does one find them?

Thanks!

I just watched the advanced voicing video and think it's really great. Only thing I thought lacking was NOT hearing those tops in completed guitars.

I bought a set from him on e-bay. Probably my best e-bay purchase ever.

Still working through them all as I build. I have also found Robert O'Brien's DVD very helpful. I thought that the lack of video would really be a negative with his, but I have really found it to be just as helpful so far. His still photos cover things very well. Gotta like John's dancing though.

I'm glad you like the videos...but the fact that you like my dancing is very
disturbing :)

AND.... I still can't find the rap song that John mentions and it is just
killing me. For 6 months now I have been searching the DVD over and
over for the rap song........ If I don't find it soon OR if John does not give
me some help finding it I am going to sell my advanced voicing DVD on
the Luthier's Auctions for $1.00....... [/QUOTE]

If you search this forum I actually give the location away... a hint though
is it is a hidden selection in the quiz....

OK Cracker J . . .

I wouldn't say it's the WORST rap song ever.

That wouldn't be fair --- I mean, I haven't listened to all the other rap songs yet.

Great videos, though.
